The purpose of the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center (DWR), run by the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation, is to provide an economical and collaborative environment for non-profit organizations. Tahoe Prosperity Center is all about collaboration, so we are thankful to be one of the resident non-profit organizations in the building.
The Tahoe Prosperity Center (TPC) is the basin-wide organization working to unite Tahoe’s communities to strengthen regional prosperity. TPC’s work revolves around creating opportunities for vibrant communities, thriving businesses, diverse careers, and local workforce housing.
The DWR Center Resident Grant from the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation provides TPC with furnished office space as well as the opportunity for meaningful collaboration on our Measuring for Prosperity Report. The Measuring for Prosperity Report is our signature report on the current status of the Tahoe Basin’s community and economy. We are so appreciative of the support of the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation and our other community partners in helping to fund this report which provides benchmarks for economic and social indicators in the Lake Tahoe Basin that can help to inform better policy decisions.
We have much to be thankful for this year. Not only has the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation provided us with a DWR Center Resident Grant, they are also a major sponsor of our AlertTahoe program. AlertTahoe is a partnership with UNR to provide a network of emergency preventative fire cameras around the Tahoe Basin to protect the region from catastrophic wildfires. With the help of the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation we were able to secure funding for the final two cameras this year, completing the network around the Lake Tahoe Basin.
And given the current fire season in California – these AlertTahoe cameras are keeping our residents protected. That is something to be thankful for, so we applaud the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation for its incredible work in the Lake Tahoe region.
